WESTCO SEALED AGM BATTERIES

 

The Westco MK sealed AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries are designed specifically for motorcycle use, incorporating robust construction and high cold cranking Amps (CCA) to ensure excellant starting particularly in cold conditions. Once fully charged they can be left for long periods without discharging or needing recharging.

These are not to be confused with ordinary 'Gel batteries' which have to be charged almost as often as ordinary lead acid batteries.

  

 

They are supplied fully charged so no further charging before use is required or desirable.

All the Westco batteries below are direct replacements for the batteries listed having the same dimensions, terminals etc.

Depending on the battery type some WestCo batteries are labelled SVR

WESTCO 6V AGM BATTERY

These use the same advanced AGM technology as the 12V batteries above but are intended for use with 6V bikes without electric start.

They have a large 12AH capacity

They are 150 x 48 x 93MM (excluding terminals) and can be fitted inside one of the dummy battery cases.

They use standard 1/4" 'push-on' terminals

What exactly is an AGM battery? An AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery is a lead-acid battery that is sealed using special pressure valves and is completely maintenance-free.The electrolyte is absorbed in separators consisting of a sponge-like mass of matted glass fibres which uses a recombination reaction to prevent the escape of hydrogen and oxygen gases normally lost in a liquid lead-acid battery. They are non-spillable, and therefore can be operated in virtually any position. However, upside-down installation is not recommended. Once fully charged they can be left for long periods without discharging or needing recharging. They have a very high discharge current ensuring excellant cold starting characteristics.

 

SOLID STATE CYCLON AGM BATTERIES

IDEAL FOR CLASSIC BIKES

 

These lead/acid batteries are totally sealed and hold the acid in gel form soaked into matting making them totally leak proof and able to be mounted in any position.

Each battery is 6V and is supplied with a fuseholder. Two batteries can be connected to provide 6V or 12V, instructions are supplied.
These batteries are designed for long term use and under ideal conditions can last 8/10 years and they can be left for long periods without charging.
Each battery measures 110 x 68 x 45MM so 2 can be fitted inside the battery case below or mounted in place of a std. battery. They are not suitable for electric starts.
Two batteries connected for 6V or 12V have a capacity of 10AH and are suitable for use with dynamo equipped bikes fitted with a solid state Voltage regulator. Alternator bikes need a Zener diode or solid state Voltage regulator in 6V or 12V
Cyclon cells are supplied charged, no further charging before use is required or desirable.

DUMMY BATTERY CASE

 

The empty battery case is a facsimile of the old 6V Chloride/Exide batteries and measures approx.

4 1/2" x 3 3/8" x 6" (114 x 87 x 155MM) and can be used with a smaller 6V.

Inside dimensions are 105 x 75 x 140MM

There isn't a conventional 12V battery of sufficient capacity that will fit. New hard rubber battery cases expected before Christmas
     

 

CONVENTIONAL MOTORCYCLE BATTERIES

 

These 6V Lead acid batteries are copies of the 1940/s/50s Chloride/ Exide batteries and measure 4 1/2" x 3 3/8" x 6" (114 x 87 x 155MM). They are approximately 8AH and weigh 2.3Kilo. They are supplied dry charged and can be filled with acid at your local bike shop.

The cost is £26.00 + £8.50 P&P

CONVENTIONAL MOTORCYCLE BATTERIES
