We have had specially made powerful Quartz Halogen bulbs with fittings to suit the British Pre-Focus type of headlamp fitted to bikes from late 1940s to the 1970s and cars up until the introduction of the sealed beam unit.

British Pre-Focus P36d (P22d)

BA15d Bayonet cap These fit most British and some American pre 1950 headlights. They are 15MM in dia with a parallel pin bayonet fitting. The bulbs these replace are shown as illustrations 14 & 15 in the diagram of standard bulbs

The original bulbs had a much larger glass spherical envelope, quartz halogen bulbs are much smaller. On most headlamps you can replace these from the rear without removing the glass etc.

In the 1970s Lucas introduced the P36t 463. This was a 'half way house' between the British Pre-Focus bulbs and the later P45 & P43t. These had the British Pre-Focus fitting but with a H4 Halogen envelope in 12V 60/55W and the 3 spade push on connection.

These new yellow H4 headlights are specifically designed to make motorcycles more visable.

Most cars either have 'Daytime running lights' or run with their headlights on even in good visability, so so just riding with your headlight on is often not enough.

A yellow headlight will make your bike stick out in a sea of white lights.

Because it is different, motorists will notice it and you will be seen. Yellow headlight are 100% road legal so MOTs aren't a problem.

These are modern Quartz Halogen bulbs that give a longer beam & the manufacturers claim 100% more light than from a std. QH bulb, particularly if yours is getting old.

This is the bulb that would have been originally fitted to most British cars & bikes of the early seventies onward, and is still fitted to many new cars today

6 & 12V Quartz Halogen pilot light bulb BA9s and BA15s. Bright enough to be noticed without straining your charging circuit. Direct replacement, needs no wiring or switch changes. These replace the bulbs in illustrations 25, 26 & 39 in the diagrams of standard bulbs.

British Pre-Focus headlamp use a BA9s pilot, and BA15d Bayonet Cap headlamps use the BA15s pilot bulb

These can also be used for brighter indicators.

These will fit British bikes 1920s to date and most other cars and bikes

The BA9s 6V 10W or 20W and 12V 10W & 23W

BA9s 12V 23W QH

Ideal for a daytime riding light

On older British bikes where the pilot bulb turns off when the headlight is on, 23W is best. Very bright, you can even ride with it if your headlight fails!

An all metal bulbholder is recommended such as Pt.no. HL13124 £12.95

For bikes where the pilot bulb stays on when the headlight is lit (Commandos, late Bonnies etc.)10W is the maximum due to heat

Powerful quartz halogen bulbs for the standard BAY15d stop/tail lamp. Available in 6V 5/23W & 12V 5/35W these replace the bulbs shown in illustration 24 in the diagram of standard bulbs. They can be seen for miles. These are £12.95 ea.

These fit almost everything with a combined stop/tail bulb, excepting some vintage cars which had parallel pins.
